No one is coming to save you.
Let me explain.
I spent a long time waiting…..
Waiting for someone to love me
Waiting for someone to pick me and choose me
Waiting to feel secure
Waiting for an opportunity
Waiting for a promotion
Waiting for someone to recognize me
Waiting for permission
Waiting for someone or something to change
Waiting to make more money
lose weight,
fall in love,
achieve success,
and,
generally waiting for it to be MY turn.
And you know what?
No matter what I tried, or what I did, I never seemed to get “there” ….
…..to this magical land where all of a sudden everything that I dreamed of having would suddenly materialize and make me feel fully whole and complete.
Have you ever felt this way?
Ask yourself honestly right now:
Am I waiting for something or someone to happen to me?
I don’t think that I consciously ever asked myself that question and yet I spent my life waiting, searching, trialing, achieving, doing, and running…. as far away from myself as possible.
It’s not entirely our fault for feeling this way.
From the moment we are young children most of us are told we are waiting for our next school year, waiting to graduate middle school, then high school, then college….
Our entire life is about working towards some future moment and goal which we are meant to achieve and complete.
And once you get there, to this future goal and moment, then there is a brand new one you must get to.
We are also constantly bombarded with marketing, social media, and advertising campaigns that prey exactly on this idea that something out there (that you need to buy or possess) can change your life.
It doesn’t stop.
And on an unconscious level it makes us feel that what we are living and experiencing right now is not IT.
There is more, there has to be more to this life than THIS.
Right?
How many of us are planning our next vacation while on vacation?
How many of us have had thoughts about someone other than our wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend?
How many times have we forgotten how far we’ve come and how we are living things we dreamed of in the past?
How many of us are obsessed with the next milestone in love, family, and money?
When I say, no one is coming to save you, the ‘no one’ refers to any person, idea, concept, or thing that you currently covet and want to have in your life.
The opportunity we all have is a choice to deconstruct the narrative that there is someone or something out there that can change your life.
If no one is coming to save you, then that means that whatever is going to change your life, must be inside of you.
And the truth is that you can’t be on both sides of the fence simultaneously.
You are either:
Waiting or Creating
You are either waiting for someone or something outside of yourself to come and save you from yourself (and bring you love, money, success, security, happiness, and a sense of meaning) thus changing who you are.
Or
You are actively creating everything in your life from within yourself (all of the love, money, success, security, happiness, and a sense of meaning) thus creating who you are.
How do you move from Waiting to Creating?
Here is what I have found to work for me:
1) Be honest with yourself.
Is there any part of you that is waiting for
someone,
something,
the right time,
the next thing,
the perfect opportunity,
that future person or moment or milestone or event that will all of a sudden make life happier and successful?
If so, then the first step is to realize and know that no moment like that will ever arrive as long as you search outwardly for it.
We’ve all felt this….
Any momentary hit of dopamine soon subsides and leaves you right back where you started…. Searching and waiting for the next “thing” or “person” or “milestone” to arrive.
2) Acknowledge who YOU are.
You are part of the life force that created this world you live in.
This life force is inside of you and it is all around you.
This part is critical:
You must recognize the divinity inside of yourself and acknowledge who you are.
The same force that makes the planets move, rises and sets the sun, operates the natural order of death and birth…. Is part of YOU.
Each of us has a role to play and often we forget that we must play our own unique role in this cosmic order.
They say that ‘comparison is the thief of joy’ but what I have come to understand and realize is that in comparing myself to others I am abdicating myself and my power.
We use comparison as a tool in our waiting game as opposed to forging our own unique path and role by creating.
You are powerful, worthy, and capable.
You are not a drop in the ocean, you are the ocean in a drop.

3) Our thoughts and words matter.
Anyone who has ever created anything, whether it be a new company, a social movement, an organization, a new technology, or even another human life, has done so based on a thought they had about what could be possible in this world.
From thought, our reality emerges.
The body cannot live without the mind, Morpheus tells Neo in The Matrix.
The thoughts you think privately in your mind will show you the future you will live in.
And the words you speak betray you and reveal your thoughts.
Everything that has ever been and everything that ever will be in your life, started with a thought.
That thought turned into a belief.
And that belief became reality.
There is power in understanding this.
4) Everything you desire is already within you.
One of the most famous moments from The Wizard of Oz is when Glinda the Good Witch tells Dorothy,
“You’ve always had the power, my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself.”
You can only create if you have a thought which turns into a belief AND that belief becomes knowing.
I think I can be more successful is not the same as I know I can be more successful.
And here lies the greatest revelation of them all:
Any part of you that doubts your ability to create that which you desire, implies that you are waiting for someone or something to come and save you (and make it happen for you).
(Go back to #1 and be honest with yourself).
The truth is that the only way we create in this life is to
When you desire more:
Love
Money
Success
Joy
Happiness
Peace
Freedom
You must know that the ability to truly generate all of it lies within your Self.
(And if you don’t then go back to #2 and acknowledge who you are).
5) Nourish your mind
Most of us were not raised to see ourselves as the powerful creators that we are.
In fact, most of us have suppressed any desire to be different from everyone around us, and we desperately want what society dictates as a successful life.
Since everything starts within yourself, it becomes imperative that you nourish your mind and reprogram the narrative daily.
Find resources that work for you such as reading inspirational books, listening to podcasts, working with a life coach, meditating, journaling
And,
Do not forget these are just resources for you along your own individual path and journey.
The source of power is within you.
These resources can provide tools to unlock that within you,
Remind you when you forget who you are,
Align you when you are off balance,
Inspire you,
Challenge you,
Guide you and encourage you…..
Yet the work of creating your life is yours.
Do not fall into the trap of waiting for these resources to change you.
6) Let go of YOUR plan and trust in the divine one.
When we are in the process of identifying and creating the life we truly desire, we must be open and receptive to life unfolding in ways that are beyond our control.
It has been my experience that when I have tried to force, push, manipulate, and control any one person or situation or thing…. That has all come from this idea that someone or something could save me and make me feel more love, more success, more joy, and more peace.
We play an individual role but we are not alone. We are part of a larger divine plan.
Our role is to create what we desire and bring it into existence.
That does not mean it will look the way we plan or envision it.
Focus on creating more love in your life, by having more love inside of yourself.
Focus on creating more money in your life, by knowing you are abundant within yourself.
Focus on creating more freedom in your life, by understanding that freedom might have a different meaning than the one you originally intended.
And know that ultimately we are co-creating our life on a moment-to-moment level.
When our energy turns to fear, worry, and doubt…. Nothing seems to work out for us.
When we trust that we are on the right path… then what emerges are opportunities for continued growth and expansion.
The narrative flips from someone or something out there to one that understands our individual and collective power and ability to create some thing and any thing that we desire to have.
And trust me from experience, what emerges is often greater than our wildest dreams.
With love,
Marissa
